Focusing on the contact lens care (CLC) sector, OPHTECS has developed its business, since its establishment in 1981, under the corporate philosophy of ‘Challenge and Innovation’.

Starting with the release of the worlds-first liquid enzymatic cleaner for hard contact lenses, “Bioclen L”, in 1988, OPHTECS has continued to release various innovative products into the marketplace.

These products then contributed to the expansion of the CLC market in Japan, as well as making OPHTECS one of the largest Japanese CLC manufacturers.

OPHTECS began to manufacture and sell preservative free artificial tears in 1996 and to import the monthly replacement lens, “VUE-UNO I” in 1998.

Combined with our existing CLC products, we enlarged our business by focusing on 3 segments; contact lenses, CLC products and medical products.

The latter was commenced with the launch of a new irrigating solution in 2007, called OPI, to be used during cataract surgery and other eye surgeries.

Our latest product, Bioclen FR One Step, for the cleaning and disinfection of all types of frequent and planned soft contact lenses, is also the world-first povidone-iodine based system for the treatment of silicone hydrogel lenses.

Our ambition is to make our CLC products known, created with our innovative technology, and a wealth of experience as specialized CLC manufacturer, to contact lens wearers around the world.

Currently, we are actively expanding our business by linking-up with leading distributors in foreign markets to achieve this goal. Furthermore, to meet international FDA, CE and ISO standards, we are now establishing a new factory in Japan, which would enable us to further expand presence on the international markets.

With the increasing use of tasks, which require intense visual concentration, and with the aging of our society, our eyes need more care.

To meet these needs, OPHTECS is committed to the discovery and development of eye care products that will make a positive difference in the market place.
